They've sent C Ryan Potulny to Edmonton for D Danny Syvret.
This is a pretty minor move. Potulny is not a 4th line-type player, so he needed to become a top-nine player. This was not going to happen with the Flyers who currently have centers coming out the ass. If he was never going to become a regular here, he needed a change of scenery. He might develop with the Oilers, but I won't lose sleep over it.
Syvret is a mobile defenseman, which is the kind of player the Flyers are looking for this offseason. He has a bit of NHL potential, but I don't see him making much of an impact this season. He had a very good junior career, but he hasn't made a successful leap to the pro game.
