Phillies Add Seanez

This was apparently in the works even before yesterday's meltdown, but the Phillies have added 39 year old reliever Rudy Seanez to the mix. Last season, he was 6-3 in 76 IP with a 3.79 ERA. He allowed 78 hits, issued 27 free passes and struck out 73 batters. He struggled in spring, partly due to a groin injury, and this is probably what led to his release.

He has the potential to be an okay middle reliever, so I think this is a good move. If he can't regain his ability from last season, they can just cut him loose and move on. If you have the chance to add a middle reliever and add just a little more depth, it's a good thing, especially with the way the bullpen was last season. Charlie Manuel needs some more 6th inning guys he can rely on.

They may have to offer Tim Lahey back to Minnesota to make room on the roster. He's expected to be in uniform before tomorrow night's game. His nickname is Action Traction, according to Baseball Reference.
